Harbottle & Lewis advise Cadbury on London 2012 sponsorship

Media and entertainment law firm, Harbottle & Lewis, has advised Cadbury on its sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) announced on Monday that Cadbury was to become the latest Tier Two supporter.

The deal gives Cadbury the designation of Official Confectionery and Ice Cream Supporter for 2012, the right to use the London 2012 marks on products, as well as marketing rights to Team GB and Paralympics GB. During the Games, Cadbury will supply all confectionery and packaged ice cream sold at the various sports' venues and within the Olympic Park.

The firm's Sports and Sponsorship Group advised Cadbury on all aspects of the deal which was completed within a very short timescale. Partner Bob Mitchell led the deal and was assisted by Paul Groves.

Bob Mitchell commented "Having worked with Cadbury on a number of issues over the last 12 months we were delighted to be retained to advise the company on this high-profile sponsorship of the 2012 Games. The assistance we provided to Cadbury on this project combined our expertise and experience in both the sports and sponsorship sectors, areas in which we have developed an excellent reputation. This is a further example of the high-profile sports sponsorship deals we have advised on in the last few years."
