IP expert joins Harbottle & Lewis as Partner
Harbottle & Lewis has appointed leading IP specialist Shireen Peermohamed as a partner in the Intellectual Property practice, bringing the total number of partners in the firm to 26. Shireen's arrival will further enhance the breadth of expertise of the firm's highly regarded IP group and she will join partners Mark Owen, Andy Millmore, Lawrence Abramson and Sandi Simons in developing the IP litigation side of the practice in particular. Shireen, who was both a partner and managing partner at Rouse Legal, will take up the post in July.
Shireen advises on all aspects of IP including brands, copyright, passing off and domain name matters. She is an experienced IP litigator and has acted on a number of high profile cases including representing Orange in trade mark and passing off litigation against easyMobile and acting for Thomson Directories Ltd in a successful copyright and database right litigation.
Shireen has represented clients in the publishing and FMCG industries as well as the IT and telecommunications sector. She is a CEDR accredited mediator and is recommended in both The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners directories for her IP work.
Mark Owen, Head of IP, and who last worked with Shireen when they were both newly qualified lawyers at Clifford Chance commented: "Shireen is an exceptionally talented lawyer and I am really looking forward to working with her again. While many firms are turning their backs on IP, we are strongly committed to our work with major brands and rights-owners. We have seen a lot of growth in all forms of our IP work but particularly in our IP litigation, and Shireen will play in important part in the continuing development of our practice."
Shireen Peermohamed commented: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at Harbottle & Lewis, a firm I have long admired for its cutting edge IP work."
Managing Partner, Glen Atchison, commented: "The recruitment of Shireen demonstrates our continued commitment to growing and developing the core practice areas of the firm by hiring the best senior level talent. Shireen brings with her a wealth of experience which will complement and further strengthen our existing IP practice. We are delighted that she is joining us."
