Harbottle & Lewis advises Zattikka in relation to $5.5m funding

Media and entertainment lawyers, Harbottle & Lewis, have advised interactive gaming company, Zattikka, in relation to its $5.5m investment through its parent company Expedite 5, Inc., which was led by Notion Capital and a group of private individuals including Harald Ludwig, co-chair of Lionsgate Entertainment.

Zattikka will use the funding to invest in recruitment, research and development and marketing to further broaden its portfolio of browser and mobile games, taking advantage of the diversifying audiences for social gaming.

Tim Chaney and Mark Opzoomer, two former Virgin games executives, founded the business in August 2009. The investment follows the acquisition of popular portal Gimme5Games, which hosts titles such as the Phantom Mansion series, in September 2009, in relation to which Harbottle & Lewis also advised.

Mark Phillips, Co-Head of the firm's Interactive Entertainment Group and Tony Littner, Head of firm's Growth Capital Group advised on the UK aspects of the implementation of a new shareholding structure and the arrangements with Notion Capital with support from Corporate assistant John Brink.
