IP Annual Review - Part 1: Stretching the Boundaries

23 September 2010

Changes in IP have come thick and fast over the last year. In a series of two seminars Mark Owen, Shireen Peermohamed and Andy Millmore will aim to put it all into context and to explain how the overall picture is evolving. In the first, they will concentrate largely on the changes to brand protection, both online and offline.

Stretching the Boundaries

The first session will be a review of how law is responding to the latest threats to brands, including:

  • Numatic v Qualtex and Specsavers v Asda: passing off, confusion and surveys
  • Vodkat: extended form passing off and goods without a "cachet"
  • Unilever v BNP: parodies, politics and free speech
  • Portakabin/Interflora and Google's policies: the latest in the AdWords saga
  • L'Oreal v Bellure and Specsavers v Asda: perfume and specs: is 10(3) alive and well?

Our seminars are free of charge and delegates are eligible for one hour of accredited CPD.
