Harbottle & Lewis advises on legal aspects of the film War Horse

Harbottle & Lewis advised on the legal aspects of the film version of War Horse, produced by our client DreamWorks Studios. The film premiered in London on the 9th January 2012 and was attended by TRHs the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. War Horse went on general release in the UK on the 13th January and has been nominated for 5 BAFTAs.

War Horse is a war drama directed by Steven Spielberg and is based on the bestselling children's novel by Michael Morpurgo. The screenplay follows the story of a young boy, played by Jeremy Irvine, whose beloved horse is sold to the cavalry at the outbreak of World War I. He then embarks on a dangerous mission across Europe to save his horse and bring him home to Devon.

Other members of the cast include British actors David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Watson, Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Marsan, Toby Kebbell and Peter Mullan.
