Rhys is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Practice.
Rhys has a broad range of experience advising clients predominantly in the media and entertainment industries. He has particular experience of private company and business sales and acquisitions, start-up, joint venture and shareholder arrangements. He also advises on all matters relating to limited liability partnerships.
Rhys has worked on a number of high profile transactions involving leading figures in the entertainment industry and these include advising Simon Fuller and Ingenious Ventures Limited in relation to their £100m sale of 19 Entertainment Limited to CKX Inc, AIM listed MAMA Group Plc in relation to its £19m+ acquisition of a number of live music venues (including the Hammersmith Apollo, Forum and Jazz Cafe) from the Live Nation group of companies and Really Useful Theatres on its £11.5m sale of the Apollo, Duchess, Garrick and Lyric Theatres. He has also advised leading brands such as Virgin and Penguin Books on a variety of corporate transactions.
Rhys has advised on a number of sales/acquisitions of prominent independent television production companies and these have included the sale of leading comedy and magic producer Objective Productions (producer of Peep Show, Derren Brown and The Real Hustle) to All3Media, Chrysalis's £50m+ sale of its television division to All3Media, the £30m sale of Supernanny producer Ricochet to Shed Productions plc, the £25m sale of Tiger Aspect to IMG Media and the simultaneous acquisition and related fund raising by AIM listed DCD Media Plc of independent production companies September Holdings, West Park Pictures and Prospect Pictures for a total consideration of £19.1m.
Rhys joined Harbottle & Lewis upon qualification in 2001.
