Linzi is a Senior Associate in the firm's Family Practice. She specialises in all aspects of private family law including divorce, ancillary relief (including big money cases and cases with an international element) and Children Act disputes. She has also gained experience in cohabitation disputes and pre nuptial agreements. Linzi is also interested in all issues and disputes arising from the Civil Partnership Act.

Linzi regularly advises parents in complex Children Act proceedings. She is a member of Resolution (previously the Solicitors Family Law Association).

Linzi graduated from Southampton University with a BA (Hons) and went on to study law at London Guildhall University. She qualified in December 2002 and joined Harbottle & Lewis LLP in November 2006.

Relevant work

  • Acting for the men in the landmark case of Re WB (children) (contact) [2011] All ER (D) 117. In that case, Mr Justice Hedley established the concept of secondary parenting to describe the significant role played by the two gay men who had entered into an artificial insemination arrangement with a lesbian couple. Rejecting the argument that the future relationship between the children and the men should be identity only, Mr Justice Hedley proceeded to make an order for regular staying contact. Recent changes in legislation and modern living have led to the creation of new parenting arrangements as it becomes increasingly common for gay and lesbian couples to start a family through artificial insemination (AI) and surrogacy. As a result we are seeing an increasing number of enquiries and a growing number of same sex artificial insemination cases coming through the family courts.
