People | Michael Offer

Michael is a Consultant in the firm’s Aviation and Finance Group. He has experience in the fields of aviation, shipping finance, trade finance, banking security work and general banking work, asset finance, general commercial and corporate transactions particularly cross border.

He has had some 40 years experience in these fields acting for both vendor and purchaser; lessor and lessee; lender and borrower. A large part of his expertise has involved acting for overseas clients and in that respect he has acted for or against parties in Japan (particularly manufacturing companies, trading houses and banks); Hong Kong and Singapore; the Indian subcontinent; the Middle East, particularly Jordan and the Lebanon; West Africa, particularly Nigeria, as well as parties in the USA and Europe. When such matters have involved local national law then he has worked closely with lawyers and other experts or professionals in the relevant jurisdiction.

His experience covers contentious as well as non-contentious areas of law.

He is a former Senior Partner of Lawrence Jones and subsequently the London Senior Partner of TLT LLP.

Michael is a member of the Aviation Club of Great Britain, member of the Japan Society, a former Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and former honorary solicitor of the Royal Africa Society.
