People | Alan Moss
Alan is a Senior Associate in the Film and Television Group. He acts for a wide range of clients including production companies, banks and other financiers, digital platforms, sales agents, distributors, writers and directors. He provides advice on all aspects of the financing, development, production and distribution of films. In recent times, Alan has increasingly advised on issues relating to the digital exploitation of film and other content.
Alan’s recent work has included:
- Advising Microsoft on its electronic sell-through and video-on-demand arrangements with film studios and distributors around the World for its digital entertainment service, “Zune”;
- Advising on the DreamWorks production War Horse;
- Advising Coutts on the financing of the animated television series Roy (series 2);
- Advising Quickfire Films on the distribution and financing arrangements for the Australian production A Few Best Men;
- Advising the band Queen and its management on the forthcoming film about the band starring Sacha Baron-Cohen as Freddie Mercury;
- Advising Forward Films on the production financing of the feature film, Grabbers, which was recently selected for the Sundance film festival;
- Advising the producers of the feature film documentary Fire in Babylon on its international distribution agreements; and
- Advising Scion Films on the financing of a number of its feature films.
Alan is a regular speaker at film industry events. Before joining the firm, he trained at Linklaters and subsequently spent two years in its structured finance practice acting for bank lenders, arrangers and borrowers, working on secured loan facilities, securitisations and debt securities issues.
