People | Derek Godfrey

Derek is the Chief Operating Officer and a member of the firm's Management and Strategy Committee. He is responsible for all aspects of the firm's support services - in particular, to ensure that we have systems and processes that fully support our lawyers in providing high quality cost effective legal services to all of our clients.

Derek graduated in Mathematics from the University of Kent at Canterbury and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales having qualified with Coopers & Lybrand in 1987. Derek has spent his entire career in professional services, including more than15 years as a fee earner and several years as an independent consultant to law firms. He has held senior operational roles and/or consulted with a number of leading professional service firms including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Herbert Smith and Eversheds.

Derek joined Harbottle & Lewis in 2008.
