UEFA hospitality ruling

In our Autumn 2007 e-bulletin, we reported that the IRB had failed in a Parisian court in its attempt to injunct the corporate events management provider Marcus Evans (through its subsidiary, thg) from offering hospitality packages for the 2007 IRB Rugby World Cup held in France. It is interesting to note that Marcus Evans had not made or purported to make available match tickets as part of the hospitality packages on offer, a point which may distinguish it from the UEFA case.

A UEFA spokesman stated that it "considers the Munich interim injunction to be of the highest importance with regards to the forthcoming event. It is unfortunately a fact that far more tickets, or hospitality packages, than are really available are currently being offered to the public, in particular via the internet, internet auctions or via unsolicited faxes and phone calls".

UEFA has reminded fans that in order to avoid any disappointment tickets should only be purchased via www.uefa.com or through its exclusive sales agent, IMG.
