Howard Hymanson provides advice on a comprehensive range of contentious and non contentious employment law issues and has developed a particular expertise in conducting high value discrimination cases (both before the employment tribunal and the appellate courts), advising on senior executive terminations, director/shareholder disputes and restrictive covenant injunctions.

He represents clients in media and entertainment, professional sports, investment banking sectors, professional services and retail and leisure. His clients include Lastminute.com, GP&J Baker Limited, Ponti’s Group Limited as well as many senior executives in Film and TV and investment banking.

He can provide specialist legal advice on:

Howard sits on the Legislative and Policy Committee of the Employment Lawyers Association and regularly contributes to and chairs working parties commenting on draft legislation, most recently chairing the working party on compensated non fault dismissals.

 

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

Howard’s work highlights include:

  • Representing Gillian Switalski, an ex-City employee who was claiming £19m compensation for work-place sex discrimination
  • Defending lastminute.com against a constructive unfair dismissal and breach of contract claim in the Employment Tribunal brought by a senior HR vice president
  • Acting for a football league cub in relation to an allegation of race discrimination made by a player against their manager
  • Acting for a female City worker in conducting her sexual harassment grievance resulting in the termination of the employment of the harasser, a Partner in a leading Investment Bank
  • Acting for an IT software sales specialist in a high value contested Employment Tribunal claim against a multi-national business for disability discrimination arising from the mental ill health suffered as a result of the bullying conduct of his female manager.
