Harbottle & Lewis has advised global creative incubator Awesome Media & Entertainment on an investment from Kew Media Group, a publicly listed global content company.
Kew Media Group has taken a stake in the business, which involved both equity and debt financing. The new partnership will allow Awesome to expand its operations and focus on developing and producing new content across books and screen.
Corporate partner Colin Howes and associate Emily Miles advised on the transaction for Harbottle & Lewis, working with Huw Walters of Industry Media who advised on content-related aspects of the transaction.
Awesome was founded by author and writer-producer Jeff Norton, who first connected with Harbottle & Lewis at the 2017 Indielab TV Accelerator programme. Awesome was one of the participating up-and-coming content companies and Harbottle & Lewis was a sponsor. Partners Colin Howes and Sarah Lazarides led sections of the programme.
Colin Howes said: “We’re delighted that the closing of this transaction puts Awesome and Kew Media into a partnership that will bring some exciting projects to our screens.
“It has been a great experience working with Jeff and Huw to help make it happen. I’m particularly happy to see one of the 2017 Indielab participants walking the talk and securing investment.”
Harbottle & Lewis is proud to be sponsoring the IndieLab TV Accelerator programme again this year. You can read more about our partnership with Indielab here.
