Harbottle & Lewis has advised drama producer Iona Vrolyk on the launch of a new scripted production company, Double Dutch, with Banijay UK.
Iona’s previous development and production credits include Cuffs (BBC One), The Good Karma Hospital (ITV) and Intergalactic (Sky One).
Harbottle & Lewis advised on the corporate, commercial and employment aspects of the transaction and Simon Vyvyan of TVA advised on the business plan and talent-related aspects of the deal.
Double Dutch will focus on high-end character-led original series and will be collaborating with writer and showrunner Julie Gearey from the outset.
Corporate partner Colin Howes commented: “We are delighted to have advised Iona on this exciting new venture with Banijay and look forward to seeing the slate it develops. Our specialist knowledge of the indie TV sector and extensive experience advising on TV investment deals meant we had the expertise to advise on all elements of the transaction.”
Iona said: “Working with Harbottle & Lewis has been a great experience. Colin and Katerina’s advice and expertise has been invaluable and they have ensured a smooth process throughout.”
Colin Howes led the team that advised on the transaction with support from Corporate associate Katerina Capras. Simon Vyvyan of TVA advised Double Dutch on its business and commercial affairs requirements.
