Harbottle & Lewis has advised its long-standing client Secret Group Limited, the company behind Secret Cinema, in a crowdfunding round on the Crowdcube platform.
The initial crowdfunding target of £1 million was heavily oversubscribed and Secret Group successfully closed the round by raising over £4.7m from a wide investor base.
Founded in 2007 by Fabien Riggall, Secret Group hosts immersive experiences. To date the company has produced more than 50 shows selling over 1 million tickets, its biggest show selling over 100,000 tickets.
In addition to hosting many shows in London across various venues, Secret Group has also worked with Netflix to produce a Stranger Things experience in Los Angeles as well as launching Casino Royale in Shanghai. The crowdfunding campaign has enabled thousands of fans to become shareholders in Secret Group and provides finance to enable Secret Group to pursue new and exciting immersive projects.
Corporate partner Charlie Leveque and senior associate Edward Lane led the Harbottle & Lewis team and were assisted by Corporate associate Thomas Connor.
Secret Group COO and CFO Damien Macaulay commented: “As always, Charlie and the team at Harbottle were fantastic. They made the legal process to close this campaign smooth and straightforward for us.”
