Harbottle & Lewis has advised leading games publisher and long standing client Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. on its acquisition of Nordeus, an independent mobile game developer primarily based in Belgrade, Serbia. The total consideration for the acquisition is up to US$378 million.
Headquartered in New York, Take-Two is a leading developer, publisher, and marketer of interactive entertainment for consumers around the world. Take-Two develops and publishes a diverse portfolio of industry-leading interactive entertainment products principally through Rockstar Games, 2K, Private Division, Social Point and Playdots, including iconic brands Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, NBA 2K, BioShock and Sid Meier’s Civilization.
Founded in 2010, Nordeus is a mobile games company based in Belgrade, Serbia, with approximately 180 employees and is best known for Top Eleven which is recognized as the world’s most successful mobile soccer management game* with over 240 million registered users.
Mark Phillips, partner and head of the firm’s Interactive Entertainment Group, together with senior associate Ed Lane, led a multi-disciplinary team which included associate Alex Gays and trainee Jake Jacobson (Corporate), partner Kostya Lobov, and associates Liam Haeburn-Little (Interactive Entertainment), Mike Jones and trainee Sam Georgevic (Sports), partners David Scott (Tax), Sacha Wilson and associate Shayna-Radhika Patel (Data Protection), and chartered trade mark attorneys Sharon Daboul and Jordan-Marie Caton (IP) and others.
