Beata Sobkow advises clients in the technology, media, and entertainment industries on a wide range of data protection and intellectual property issues.
In the area of data protection, Beata has worked with a number of clients on their GDPR implementation programmes and their day-to-day compliance queries as well as advised them on data protection aspects forming part of their commercial transactions.
Beata regularly speaks on personal data protection and intellectual property issues both in the UK and internationally. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the Association for UK Interactive Entertainment (Ukie), and the Society for Computers and Law (SCL).
She has a keen interest in emerging technologies; video games; eSports; virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (VR, AR, and MR); and artificial intelligence (AI).
Before joining Harbottle & Lewis, Beata trained and worked at the London, Paris and Tokyo offices of Allen & Overy LLP.
In 2017, she completed her LLM in Computer and Communications Law during which she focused her research on legal issues surrounding privacy and data protection, interactive entertainment, and intermediary liability.
