With effect from today, the Civil Procedure Rules have been amended so that where a party wishes to serve a claim outside the jurisdiction, and that claim arises under a contract which contains a term to the effect that the English court shall have jurisdiction to determine that claim, a claimant may serve that claim form outside the jurisdiction without requiring the permission of the court.

This is an improvement on the previous post-Brexit position, whereby the claimant generally needed to obtain the permission of the court to serve a claim outside the jurisdiction unless the 2005 Hague Convention applied.
